Leland on the Simms OTC Liner Socks

If you've never had blisters or chafing make a fishing day less-than ideal, you're part of a small minority of anglers. More likely, you're like us, and you're familiar with how sand, neoprene, or a new pair of wading boots can give your feet a bit of grief from time to time. The Simms OTC (Over-the-Calf) Liner socks protect your feet from friction, stop chafing, and reduce blister-formation. No matter where or when you fish, you can appreciate that, we're sure.

Leland on Specifications:

The Simms Over-the-Calf (OTC) Liner Socks will gain a major following in the fly fishing industry. That's our prediction. These thin, light, and inexpensive liners can be one of the most important pieces in your ensemble, especially on longer trips, expeditions, or other intense fishing binges. Inside a thicker sock, the Simms OTC Liner Sock helps your foot to slide frictionlessly -- and as everyone knows, Friction is the mother of those ill-behaved children Blister, Bleeding, and Infection.

It’s funny how childhood memories can influenceone's life! Just ask K.C. Walsh of Simms Fishing Products about theunderlying theme of his company and its location. He'll tell you it wasbecause his grandfather took him fly fishing in Bozeman, MT as a youngman. Funny how what started as a desire by K.C. to work in the flyfishing industry, turned into the design of the world's best fishingwaders. Funny how that vision of wader design transformed a companyinto one that now manufacturers what is considered by many to be thefinest collection of fly fishing –outdoor wear in the entire industry.Funny? Not really. Just great concepts and a lot of hard work: Welcometo Simms Fishing Products!

At Leland Fly Fishing Outfitters,we carry and use only the best fly fishing gear. There’s not enoughtime in our hurried world to worry about whether our chest waders orrain jackets are going to leak. We talk with K.C. quite frequently andlove to listen about his passion for developing the most useful andhighest quality fly fishing gear. We at Leland have toured the Simmsfactory, attended their numerous product seminars, and vigorously usedand field tested their equipment and we can tell you flat out; K.C. isdoing it right!

Simms OTC Liner Sock Review by Leland's Alex Cref

I took the Simms OTC Liner Socks along for an extended float down India's Saryu River on a recent mahseer trip. After fishing in sandals on a previous trip (to disastrous results), I wanted to be really careful about my feet this time around. I wore an OTC Liner, a Simms Wet Wading Sock, a Simms Guard Sock, and the new Riversheds with Vibram soles. This has to be the industry's best way to keep feet safe: totally, utterly bomb-proof. My feet were free of blisters and any kind of irritation the entire trip, and I think this set-up could enable anglers to wet-wade in surprisingly low water temperatures. The OTC liners are a small additional expenditure, and I think other owners will agree with me that they're very worth it. Highly recommended.

Simms on Conservation:

“IF YOU COULD PASS JUST ONE THING DOWN TO YOUR KIDS, WHAT WOULD IT BE?”
“Fishing is dependent on clean water, healthy ecosystems and just as important, people who care about conservation and resource preservation. It is theresponsibility of everyone who enjoys angling to help protect andenhance our fresh and saltwater fisheries. After all, what greaterinheritance would we leave future generations?

Supportinglocal, regional, and national conservation organizations is certainlyan important role that angles can play in caring for our fishingresources. However, one area of vital concern, and one that all anglerscan easily help do something about, is the spread of aquatic invasivespecies. These “hitchhikers”, including New Zealand mud snails, Didymoand whirling disease are having an enormous effect on rivers across theUnited States and are directly linked to reduced trout populations.Unfortunately, anglers are part of the problem, given that invasivespecies are spread by “hitchhiking” on waders, wading boots, driftboats, trailers and other gear.

YOU CAN HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE SPECIES IN THREE EASY STEPS:

1)Thoroughly rinse all fishing gear -including waders, boots, boats, andboat trailers- in clean freshwater upon leaving a water source. Nevertravel from one river to another without clean gear.
2) Air-dry gear before moving to another body of water.
3) Tell other anglers about this problem and what they can do to help.”
