Fly Tying Luggage
Fly tying should not be just something you do while sitting in your cozy little den while you pass the time by the fire, wearing a smoking jacket like the guy from Mystery Theatre, ok. Not saying that there is anything wrong with that.
On the contrary, there are far worse ways to spend time, and there is definitely something to be said for making sure you're stocked up on all your favorite and necessary patterns...while drinking a fine glass of scotch perhaps. But isn't one of the advantages of tying your own flies supposed to be being able to match the hatch as exactly as possible? And when you think about it, doesn't that really necessitate actually being there so that you can see exactly what that hatch is? Fishing reports, past trips, and a fishing water's general history are all things that one should consider when planning what kind of flies to take on a trip but nothing says being truly prepared more, and nothing saves a trip better than, being able to whip out a tying kit stream side and bust out that perfect imitation, which may end up being something that is different and possibly even better than, any local, commercially available, or known pattern anyways! After all, there is no better inspiration, or fly tying muse if you will, than the real thing, in it's real environment. So pack up those furs and feathers in one of these pieces of fly tying luggage made especially for the purpose...and take it on the road buddy!
