You’ve traveled a long way to wade this saltwater flat. Flash material is designed for times when tyers want to “kick it up a notch.” It is available in many colors and reflective grades. Tying some flashabou or other Mylar reflective material to a fly will increase its attractive quality and draw the interest of more fish, especially in low light situations and darker, deeper, murkier water. It is more common to find flash and reflective material in nymph patterns and recipes, but it can also be a useful highlight to the wings of a dry fly, especially in the extra-fine diameters.
