SAGE SPEY CASTING CLINIC
Tackling the challenge of big rivers for big fish can be effortless with a double-handed fly rod. Anglers using this
method will benefit from better line control and increased distance. In addition, anglers will find limited back cast room adequate for casting and covering enormous amounts of water. For the past several years, Bill Lowe has been perfecting a no-nonsense approach to using the double-handed fly rod as a fantastic fishing tool. He has applied these techniques to salmon and steelhead waters throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. This clinic is designed for beginning to intermediate Spey casters. The day focuses on utilizing these rods without complicated instruction. Students learn the Forward Spey, Single Spey, Double Spey, Circle Spey, the Chicks Dig It Spey, and when to fish each of these casts. Come learn some new techniques on the American River, just an hour from the Bay

BIG TROUT TACTICS AT HAT CREEK
After you've taken Clearwater's Mastering program or if you already have sound fly fishing skills, Clearwater House's "Big Trout Tactics" will dramatically increase your fly fishing success.
As one's fly fishing skills develop, we often become interested in catching bigger trout. Although dry fly fishing is visually exciting, it is a smaller percentage of the time that trout feed at the surface. Big trout prefer the security of feeding deeper in
the water column. To get to the bigger fish, you need to recognize the water that meets their special requirements for food and shelter and present a nymph or streamer fly in a natural way at that level. In this program, Clearwater Instructors will teach you the three fundamental nymphing techniques to get an effective presentation in any type of water. You learn to work the deepest runs and pools with a sinking line and a streamer pattern. For those occasions when a good hatch does bring the big fish up, you learn line control techniques to make a drag-free presentation with a dry fly. You learn how to use the double haul, long distance mends, and a variety of streamer retrieves. You learn to play and land large fish. You'll leave with the confidence to fish for big fish anywhere in the world. Open to Mastering graduates and others with solid fly fishing skills.
