Leland is the largest dealer in the U.S for most of Fly Fishing's premier products. We are currently accepting resumes for many positions:

Order Fullment & Stocking Associate

Leland is a fast-paced, growing family business, seeking two detail-oriented, hard working and reliable people to fulfill and ship online/internet retail orders. 

This is a full-time 40 hours a week position available in our San Francisco location. Hours for positions are 9am-5pm. Monday-Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be needed during peak holiday periods. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Picking, packaging orders and preparing them for shipment. 
  • Gift-wrap orders as needed. 
  • Shipping prepared orders. 
  • Monitoring orders and follow-up. 
  • Assist in receiving merchandise, tagging and stocking shelves/warehouse. 
  • Help maintain a clean and organized warehouse/shipping area. 
  • Other daily duties as assigned. 
  • Some lifting required, maximum is about 35 lbs. 

Skills Must Have: 

  • Upbeat, optimistic, passionate, friendly, authentic and without ego.
  • Proven work ethic with utmost integrity to ensure all customers are being serviced properly.
  • Must be detail oriented making sure each item is picked correctly in accurate quantities. 
  • A self-starter approach, able to complete all tasks accurately with little or no supervision. 
  • Ability to stand during scheduled hours, reaching, climbing on ladders, pulling, kneeling etc. to pull merchandise from shelves. 
  • Basic computer skills: typing, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and know how to use the internet and e-mail. 

Knowledge of the following a plus: 

  • UPS Worldship 
  • Prior Experience in Order Picking & Packaging and/or shipping. 
  • Love of Fly Fishing and the Outdoors is a plus.

Starting pay is $11.50 an hour.

Fly Fishing Writer:

As the leading fly fishing retail store in the heart of San Francisco, just off Union Square, we are seeking an outgoing English or History major/minor student to join our customer service team. The Applicant will exercise a high level of skill with the written word, as well as advanced computer knowledge. Applicants must also have excellent people skills, must be team oriented and have a strong knowledge of fly fishing and fly fishing equipment.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop merchandising descriptions by telling the story of the product
  • Assist with maintenance of selling sites
  • Track and report site performance
  • Interact with customers interested in Leland
  • Telephone customer service


Starting pay is $11.50 an hour. 


Retail Internship:

Are you looking for a great job in the fly fishing industry? As the leading fly fishing retail store in the heart of San Francisco, just off Union Square, we are seeking an outgoing recent college grad to join our team. Applicant must be well spoken as well as have advanced computer knowledge. Applicant must also have excellent people skills, must be team oriented and, although not a must, it would be helpful to have a knowledge of fly fishing and fly fishing equipment.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Stocking of fly fishing retail products
  • Cashiering
  • Maintain store appearance
  • Telephone customer service

This paid internship can turn into a full-time employment opportunity for any applicant that proves, over the course of the summer, that we just can’t live without you!  We are always looking for qualified team members. 

Starting pay is $11.50 an hour. 

Allocation Analyst/Buyer

We are seeking an outgoing individual to be responsible for managing the flow of merchandise from our vendors to the store. Analyze inventory volume by channel to ensure financial success in all channel by meeting or exceeding sales, gross margin, gross margin return on investment (GMROI) and inventory turn goals.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Pre-Season Allocation Planning 

  • Analyze historical data and current trends to identify risk and opportunities by department, class, collection, and sku at the store and channel level
  • Monitor inbound receipts by departments and communicate stocking issues as needed

In-Season Allocation Planning 

  • Demand forecasting at the store and sku level
  • Adequately stock store with appropriate assortments to meet presentation objectives as well as sales, gross margin, GMROI and inventory turn goals
  • Reviewing open-to-buy and performance by category generate PO’s
  • Communicate parameter changes to Owner.
  • Collaborate with vendors on pricing, terms and to ensure timely delivery of inventory

ONLINE MARKETING & Project MANAGER:


The Online Marketing Manager will work with the owner to create compelling and innovative online retail experiences and to strategize and implement new ways to connect to Leland’s customers through our online properties, including the company s website and email. The Online Marketing Manager is accountable for conceiving, developing managing, implementing, and measuring new online marketing, web site, and email experiences that exceed customer expectations and drive increased web revenues.

REQUIREMENTS
  • MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS of experience of retail web marketing and/or e-commerce projects 
  • Understanding of merchandising and/or retail concepts, trends and opportunities 
  • Past experience creating and executing effective online marketing initiatives 
  • Must be able to demonstrate track record in web production from development through delivery. To include analysis, web site optimization, web site analytics and vendor negotiations 
  • A self-starter with proven ability to prioritize resources among multiple concurrent projects 
  • A high level of energy, resilience and the ability to handle tight and changing deadlines

Leland Fly Fishing Outfitters Upgrade Program

Leland Fly Fishing Outfitters currently has an opening with our Upgrade Program, a customer service program dedicated to helping fly fishers resell their unwanted fly fishing gear to earn money toward the purchase of new gear in our shop. In selling, we employ high quality communication, excellent product photography, detailed and thorough research and honest sales. The Upgrade Program is nearly a shop within the shop. Every member of the Upgrade team becomes a “jack of all trades” in the workings of a fly shop. We are in full communication with our consigners/customers throughout the process of selling their gear, and after, we help outfit them with the new gear they want or need. This position is for a creative person looking to join a highly motivated, creative, enthusiastic team of hard-working people with a passion for fly fishing. The first three months will be a trial period with sales commissions starting after that time. It is a unique opportunity to get a foot in the door at one of the country’s preeminent fly shops.

Leland Fly Fishing Outfitters is a full service fly shop in downtown San Francisco with a strong Web presence. We currently have 12 team members in and out of the shop who all have a deep passion for fly fishing. We are all serious professionals dedicated to customer service, education and, of course, fishing – in that order.
