ROD AND REEL DAY AT LELAND FLY FISHING RANCH

Rigging, casting, reading water, getting the proper drift, plus a fly rod and reel to keep!

Picture yourself casting a fly line on a beautiful private pond in the Sonoma Wine Country. This will be your venue for learning the skills required to fly fish for trout. The Leland Sonoma Fly Fishing Ranch is located on 13 acres in the southern section of Sonoma County and it's surrounded by world famous wineries.  Here you will experience the finest one-day introduction to fly fishing available!

We begin the day with the basics of tackle selection and assembly, and will impart to you an understanding of how your fly rod and line work together effectively. With hands-on demonstration and practice, you’ll learn from an expert how to form casting loops, change direction, aim accurately, and shoot and retrieve line. Throughout the day, we’ll intersperse your casting sessions with other important topics including entomology (bugs!), essential knots, reading the water, fly selection and covering the important aspects of safely playing, landing and releasing fish. You’ll enjoy a hearty lunch, as well as snacks and beverages.
Our Leland Method, a relaxed approach to learning, has been instrumental in teaching fly fishing skills to a large number of happy anglers around the world.

We finish the day by enjoying our new skills casting to trout in our private 3 acre lake, where we use flies tied on T.A.G. hooks, the latest in fisheries conservation. With this class, you will receive your own Leland Rod Co.- Sonoma School Rod, Reel and Line to keep for your next fishing trip*. This class is the only one of its kind, giving you both the skills and equipment to enjoy a new outdoor adventure. Please join us for an educational day that will introduce you to the amazing world of fly fishing.
