The G. Loomis StreamDance Fly Fishing Rod Series is
the all-around series, if you can only own one series, or the highly
versatile fly rod series. This fly rod series brings you the best of
all that is good in fly rods and gives you the you every advantage you
need to entice a golden, brookie, brown, rainbow or steelhead trout
into taking a fly and the confidence to land any trout you venture
after. Through the use of GLX propriety graphite and resin combination
the designers at G. Loomis have created a medium-fast action fly rod
that is responsive to a quick casting stroke, one that provides quick
hook sets while protection light tippets, one that easily handles long
and short casts and provides a soft but accurate presentation. Here’s
where you say; “Hey this fly rod does it all”! Well not quite “it all”
but the G. Loomis StreamDance series does provide the action and rod
length to cover most trout and summer steelhead fly fishing conditions.
There aren’t 40 rod models within the StreamDance fly rod
series; there are just the right lengths and rod weights to match the
old 80/20 rule, where you will spend 80% of your time fly fishing. Most
of the time we will be fly streams or rivers that don’t require super
short or extra long fly rods or a rod that don’t even register with a
true number. That is why G. Loomis has develop a fly rod with an action
that gives you line speed for accurate casts, a tip for gentle short
casts and muscle to boom out a 50 footer when the conditions dictate.
If
you are looking for a dry fly rod, a nymphing fly rod and a spring
creek fly rod all wrapped up into one, look at the StreamDance fly
rods. With fly rods from 3 to 6 weights there is a StreamDance fly rod
can handle any size fly or fishing condition you happen upon. The
lengths for 8’3” to 10’ provide the ability to get into cover, rapid
drift boat casting or to the reach needed for large controlling mends,
longer roll casts, and tight stick nymphing. G. Loomis designers have
utilized the GLX graphite/resin to develop a medium-fast action that
provides line speeds that give you control without sacrificing any
fishability. These fast tapered fly rods load quickly off the tip to
allow for short casts as well as distance casts. As always G. Loomis
pushes the edge with components as with the fly rod design. First to
use REC guides for their popular CrossCurrent saltwater series, G.
Loomis now incorporates the recoiling stripper and new single foot
snake guides on the StreamDance series, along with the buckeye burl
reel seat insert, and ported and knurled wind checks these fly rods are
second to none. The StreamDance fly rod series will instantly become
your everyday fly rod. Whether you fly fish small streams or summer
steelhead rivers, the High Desert, the Catskills, the Sawtooth, the

Leland on G. Loomis Fly Fishing Rods
When Gary Loomis set off to construct the perfect steelhead rod
in 1982, the outcome would be much greater than the perfection of one
simple rod model. Gary had worked for other fly fishing manufacturers,
and he firmly believed that graphite was the future of the industry.
What he wanted was a rod that was soft enough to dampen the shock of a
careening steelhead, but left enough backbone to bring the fish to the
net. Using specialized machinist equipment, Gary started GLoomis rod
company to make "everyday on the water more memorable", and the rest is
rod making history.
GLoomis has been on the cutting edge of rod construction materials
for years. Starting with second-generation graphite, IM6, then moving
to IMX, and most recently, TLX (Type III) graphite, GLoomis has a
history of immediately incorporating the newest materials from the
aerospace industry into their rods. As makers not only of fly rods, but
also of general tackle rods, the designers at GLoomis rely on
field-testing and input from experts in every niche in the fishing
industry. These guys know fishing, and they know how to manipulate
their materials to create performance on the water. Their specially
designed machines build blanks using greater pressure, resulting in a
denser graphite blend that is up to five times stronger than the
industry standard. All this translates into rods that are as durable as
they are fishable, made with innovation, and design going hand in hand.
Talking to Gary Loomis about his rod-building philosophy is
pleasurable and simple. His catch-word, "efficiency", is the driving
concept behind each rod GLoomis manufactures. Finding a way to create
the best fishing tool for every type of fishing involves dedication and
know-how, and these qualities are felt in each cast of a Loomis rod.

Medium Streams & Fast Water / Large Spring Creeks and Wind
"When the wind picks up, take command on larger spring creeks with
tighter loops, increased control, and more accurate casts. The slightly
more powerful designs within the High Line Speed range deliver it all
in 8 and 9-foot lengths with #4 and #5 lines, which are increasingly
becoming the most dominant player in this environment."
G. Loomis on StreamDance Fly Rods
"StreamDance GLX fly rods are a benchmark for trout
fishing fly rods. Consistently rated tops in shoot outs, these
medium-fast to fast taper, medium stiffness rods are the universal
answer to many situations. We are confident in calling these rods the
best all-around trout rods on the planet, bar none. Potent enough to
punch a long line, yet still subtle when you need to curve a long
leader with attached minute imposter to a sipping spring creek resident
in tight quarters. Explore a new freestone stream in the mountains with
this rod in hand and you will conclude it is a decathlete champion in
the trout rod world. Coated in a satin olive finish with components
that are second to none. Recoil guides, buckeye burl insert, ported and
knurled winding check…The best.
STREAMDANCE GLX =
Medium Fast Action / High Line Speed: The all-arounder. They generate
high line speeds while offering greater versatility. With medium stiff
power and fast tapers, they’ll give you extended casting distance, with
a soft enough tip to cast well at short distances.”

Gary Loomis Recognized by President
August 23, 2003
President Bush recognized Gary Loomis in a speech he gave at Ice Harbor Dam in Burbank, Washington.
"Gary and the President
In President Bush's most recent visit to the Northwest, Gary Loomis
was invited to Ice Harbor Dam by the President to hear him deliver a
speech on salmon recovery, an issue Gary Loomis has aggressively taken
on throughout the years. Bush recognized Gary in his speech for his
continuing dedication to improving fish habitat through Fish First.
"Gary is a guy who cares about restoring salmon runs and salmon
habitat. So he and a group of volunteers have come together to work on
the salmon projects around the state of Washington. They're installing
culverts to accommodate the fish. They're creating side channels and
ponds..."
"It's just overwhelming for a little Woodland boy to meet the
president," Gary said. "It was the highlight of my life." Gary
explained that Bush immediately recognized him as the "G" in G. Loomis
on the fly rod he uses.
